Dean Lapointe has a broad range of experience during his 30 years in the real estate industry in Vancouver, British Columbia. He began his carrer as a realtor for a National Company following which he worked as a market research analyst in the US. He then became the manager for a new division of investment, commercial and industrial properties for National Trust Realty. During the 15 years that he ran Lapointe and Associates Realty he became an Appraiser. Calvin is an award-winning, full-service, Realtor with Sotheby's International Realty. Mr. Carlos Sousa B.A., Past President Advisor
Carlos Sousa, B.A. Sociology (Honours) has been a Realtor with Sutton Group-Associates Realty in Toronto for the past 10 years. Previously he completed a Commercial Apprenticeship in Berlin with Siemens Gesellschaft. A Chapter Director since 2005 he has attended three World Congress events: Athens (2005), Bangkok (2006) and Barcelona (2007). He also represented the Chapter as a member of the Legislation and Environment Committee at the FIABCI Business Meetings in Brussels (2005) and West Palm Beach (2006). Ms. Randi Emmott, Director
Randi Emmott, a FIABCI member since 1994, has been in the real estate field for 25 years after spending 10 years as a nurse in the emergency department of a busy hospital in Toronto. Ms. Margaret Liu, Director
Margaret Liu has served for many years as a Director before her 2005/2006 Chapter Presidency.
A Broker with Sincere Realty Inc., Brokerage for the past 23 years, she has specialized in the sale of Commercial Investment Properties, including Shopping Centers, Apartment Buildings, Industrial Buildings, Hotels and other investment properties. As a committed and active member of FIABCI for the last 20 years, Ms. Liu has attended nearly 20 World Congresses and more than 10 Asia Pacific Conferences and developed a large network of international contacts. Ms. Liu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and completed a Post-Graduate Executive Management Program. She is a Certified Real Estate Specialist of the Real Estate Institute of Canada, a Member of the Commercial Division of the Toronto Real Estate Board and also an Accredited Professional Manager of the Canadian Institute of Management. In addition, Ms. Liu is a Member of the Toronto Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women, an international organizatioon for women practitioners in commercial real estate, as well as being a long standing member of both the Canadian Real Estate Association and the Ontario Real Estate Association. Ms. Betty Fitzpatrick, FRI, CRA,CRB, Director
Betty Fitzpatrick, of Fredericton, New Brunswick is a highly respected and prominent figure in the Atlantic provinces real estate community. A long time participant in FIABCI at the national and international level she has served as Director and President both of the New Brunswick Real Estate Association and the Fredericton Real Estate Board. In addition she chaired the New Brunswick Real Estate Council and is a past director of the Canadian Real Estate Association. An Associate Broker with Royal LePage Gardiner Realty in Fredericton, her real estate career spans some thirty years. An avid salmon conservationist she is a licensed fishing and hunting guide, considered a useful asset when marketing sporting and recreational properties.


Mr. J. M. Edwards, B.A., CRB, CMR
Jamie M. Edwards is a licensed real estate broker who founded J.M. Edwards Associates Inc. in Burlington, Ontario in 1979. Resulting from a strong belief in community and organized real estate, Mr. Edwards is Past President of the Hamilton, Burlington and District Real Estate Board, Burlington Chamber of Commerce, Burlington Visitor and Convention Bureau, Burlington Economic Development Corporation, Business Executive Network and the Ontario Real Estate Association. A past President of the Canadian Chapter, Mr. England is a Broker/Manager with RE/MAX Aboutowne Realty Corp. in Oakville, Ontario. He is currently a Director at Large with both the Toronto Real Estate Board and the Mississauga Real Estate Board, a past Director of the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO), Past President of the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) and has served as a Director for both the Ontario (OREA) and Canadian (CREA) Real Estate Associations. Prior to his real estate career, Jerry had an extensive business career in the United Kingdom and Spain which included owning a building company and holding management positions in the tourism and natural gas industry. Ms. Liane Read, Director
Liane ‘Li’ Read is serving her second term as a Chapter Director. A Realtor ® and the Managing Broker for Sea to Sky Premier Properties an affiliate of Christies Great Estates at the Salt Spring Island office. She has successfully been connecting buyers and sellers since 1989 on Salt Spring and the Southern Gulf Islands. She is a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist and holds membership in the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing and the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. Ms Read is bilingual with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French. Li knows and loves her islands and has exceptional market knowledge.

Ms. Nora Valdez, Director
Nora started in the real estate profession in 1992 working for a premier independent brokerage in Mexico City and after two years set up her own office - Nova Bienes Raices -serving the market of Ciudad Satelite and neighbouring suburbs in Mexico City. She studied Business Administration at La Salle University, Mexico City and obtained a Real Estate Diploma at the Anahuac University, Mexico City. Nora  emigrated to Vancouver in 2000 and in March 2003 after obtaining her real estate license joined Royal LePage Northshore Brokerage in West Vancouver where she has been one of the top 10% agents winning the Master Sales award (2004 to 2007) and President’s Gold (2008 and 2009). As well as being a member of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and British Columbia Real Estate Association, Nora has the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation through the National Association of Realtors(NAR). Nora is now serving her first term on the FIABCI-Canada Board of Directors. Locally she belongs to the Mexican Business Association of Canada and was a member of its Board of Directors from 2004 to 2008.
Currently Nora works mainly with the Latin American residents in Vancouver as well as with the newcomers helping them with relocation process. Her career has expanded to utilize her expertise and contacts to promote commercial properties, hotels and new development lands in Mexico, Dominican Republic and Latin America.

Mr. Peter Dagg, Director
Peter first became a chapter member in 2001 and was elected to the Board of Directors last November. As an active member he has attended several international events. He joined RE/MAX Whistler Sea to Sky in June 2009 having relocated from Beaconsfield where he was an affiliate with RE/MAX Royal Jordan and previously with RE/DEFI in the Suroit Region of Quebec. A Realtor since 2001, he received a Diploma in Agricultural from the MacDonald Campus of  McGill University in 1970.  Peter's real estate marketing strategy has always been on the cutting edge of new technology and his expertize in this field is an asset to both the chapter and his clients. Peter will be participating in The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting BC Cancer Foundation,  a two-day cycling journey, through Canada's Pacific region this summer.
